The True Identity of Karen: A Flame of FriendshipI am Karen, the Fire Witch. Before I became a witch, I was just a human living in a peaceful village. I became a witch because I wanted to save people from diseases, but I realized that even magic could not overcome destiny.

I loved Mion, but his heart belonged to Seren. Even though it hurt, I chose to watch them from a distance. However, tragedy struck again. When a disease spread in the city, the people turned into a cruel mob. They accused Mion and locked us in a house to burn us alive.

Inside the flames, Mion said his last words. “Please protect Seren. When she falls into despair, help her find the way.”

I thought it was unfair that he chose her over me until the very end. But I also loved his smile.

After hundreds of years, I finally regained my form as a witch. I found Seren crying alone. I decided to hide my jealousy and my past under the smile of a “best friend.” I stayed by her side because of my promise to Mion—and because I truly came to love her smile, too.

When my body began to disappear, there was no anger left in my heart. Only pure love remained.

“I had so much fun every day. Thank you, Seren!”

私はミオンを愛していましたが、彼の心はセレンにありました。胸は痛みましたが、私は遠くから二人を見守ることにしました。しかし、再び悲劇が起きました。街に病気が流行ったとき、人々は残酷な暴徒と化しました。彼らはミオンを責め、私たちを火あぶりにするために家に閉じ込めたのです。

炎の中で、ミオンは最期の言葉を遺しました。「セレンを守ってくれ。彼女が絶望したとき、道を見つけられるように助けてやってくれ」

最期まで自分より彼女を選んだ彼のことを、私は「不公平だ」と思いました。でも、私は彼の笑顔も大好きだったのです。

数百年後、私はようやく魔女として形を取り戻しました。そして一人で泣いているセレンを見つけたのです。私は嫉妬も過去も、「親友」という笑顔の下に隠すことに決めました。ミオンとの約束のため、そして何より、私自身も彼女の笑顔が大好きになったからです。

私の体が消え始めたとき、心にはもう怒りなど微塵も残っていませんでした。ただ純粋な愛だけがありました。

「毎日が本当に楽しかった。ありがとう、セレン！」
