The Laughing Doll: A Sudden TragedyWe had just finished the entry process at the border, but there was no warm welcome. Instead, we heard a loud explosion.

“Boom!!”

The air shook, and people started screaming. “It’s a bomb! The ‘Laughing Doll’ is back!”

Karen tried to cover my eyes, but I saw a young girl walking toward her father. She was holding a beautiful clown doll.

“Daddy, look! It’s a special birthday gift!” she said with a lovely smile.

At that moment, I heard a small clicking sound from the doll. I realized it was a bomb.

“Run!” I screamed.

The light and the shock swallowed us. I fell to the ground, and my body was badly hurt. But because I am a witch, my body started to heal itself.

“I’ll be okay. I’m healing already,” I whispered to Karen.

A few days later, I woke up in a hospital.

“Are the father and daughter okay?” I asked.

“They are safe,” Karen replied, clenching his fists. “Everyone survived because they heard your warning.”

Later, I received a letter from them. It said, “If you hadn’t screamed that day, we wouldn’t be here. Thank you, Witch.” There was a small drawing by the child on the paper.

I held the letter and cried quietly. I cannot forget the weight of the lives I couldn’t save in the past, but as long as someone needs help, I will keep going.

This is the only way for me to live as a witch who cannot die.

●全訳：笑う人形：突然の悲劇●

入国審査を終えたばかりの私たちを待っていたのは、歓迎ではなく、突然の爆発音でした。

「ドカーン！！」

空気が揺れ、人々は叫び始めました。「爆弾だ！あの『笑う人形』がまた現れたぞ！」

カレンは私の目を見せないようにしましたが、私は父親の方へ歩いていく少女を見てしまいました。彼女は綺麗なピエロの人形を持っていました。

「パパ、見て！特別な誕生日プレゼントなんだって！」と彼女は愛らしい笑顔で言いました。

その瞬間、人形から小さなカチリという音が聞こえました。私はそれが爆弾だと気づきました。

「逃げて！」私は絶叫しました。

光と衝撃が私たちを飲み込みました。私は地面に倒れ、体はひどく傷つきました。しかし、私は魔女なので、体は自分自身で治り始めました。

「大丈夫。もう治ってきているわ」と私はカレンに囁きました。

数日後、私は病院で目を覚ましました。
