The Wedding Bells: The Weight of EternityA few months ago, Aira saved a man with a gentle smile. They looked into each other’s eyes and built a deep trust. Then, one day, Aira came to me with a brilliant smile.

“Seren, we got married,” she said.

“Congratulations,” I replied, but my heart felt a sharp pain.

While the wedding bells were ringing and people were celebrating, I quietly turned my back on them. Tears began to flow down my cheeks. I remembered the person I loved and lost long ago. As a witch, I am cursed with immortality. I cannot grow old, and I cannot even die.

Seeing their happiness reminded me of my “eternal loneliness.” It felt like a sharp needle piercing my heart.

“Seren! We will always be friends!” Aira’s voice reached me from behind as I walked away.

I have done everything I could. That thought was the only “salvation” for me now. I felt the cold wind on my cheeks and decided to keep moving forward, carrying my loneliness with me. I accepted myself for surviving another day.

「セレン！私達、これからもずっと友達よ！」遠ざかる私の背中に、アイラの声が届きました。

私は自分にできる精一杯のことをしました。その思いだけが、今の私にとって唯一の「救い」でした。冷たい風を頬に感じながら、私は孤独を抱えたまま、前に進み続けることを決めました。今日という日を生き延びた自分を、受け入れながら。
