The Runaway Train: The Price of ImmortalityOne peaceful winter morning, Aira and I took a train to buy a new magic book. However, the train suddenly accelerated to a terrifying speed. I ran to the driver’s cabin and found it empty. The controls were broken, and the train was like a beast out of control.

”Aira, wake up! This train is running away!” I shouted through my magic crystal.

There were 300 passengers on board. We used all our magic to warp the passengers to safety. But the speed was too fast. The train crashed into a massive wall at the end of the line.

The impact was so strong that it should have killed me. But as a witch, my crushed body regenerated instantly. This is our “infinite prison”—we are forced to live even if we want to die.

Near the wreckage, a girl was crying over her mother’s body. We couldn’t save everyone. Aira covered her face in grief. However, a woman we had saved walked up to us.

“Thank you, Witches,” she sobbed. “You saved my daughter and me.”

Holding the warm hand of the survivor, I realized that we cannot be perfect. We cannot save everyone. But as long as there is a drop of hope in this cruel world, we will stand up again and again.

Our journey continues.

ある穏やかな冬の朝、私とアイラは新しい魔導書を買うために列車に乗りました。しかし、列車は突然、恐ろしい速度で加速し始めました。私が運転室に駆け込むと、そこは無人でした。制御不能となった列車は、まるで意志を持った獣のようでした。

「アイラ、起きて！列車が暴走してる！」私は魔法の水晶越しに叫びました。

乗客は300人。私たちは全魔力を振り絞り、乗客を安全な場所へ転送しました。しかし速度が速すぎました。列車は終点の巨大な壁に激突しました。

その衝撃は私を殺すのに十分なはずでした。しかし魔女である私の潰れた体は、瞬時に再生してしまいました。これが私たちの「無限の牢獄」です。死にたくても、生きることを強制されるのです。

残骸のそばで、少女が母親の遺体に取りすがって泣いていました。全員を救うことはできませんでした。アイラは悲しみに顔を覆いました。しかし、私たちが救った女性が歩み寄ってきました。

「ありがとうございました、魔女様」彼女は泣きじゃくりました。「あなたたちが、私と娘を救ってくれたのです」

生存者の温かい手を握りながら、私は悟りました。私たちは完璧にはなれない。全員を救うことはできない。それでも、この残酷な世界に一滴の希望がある限り、私たちは何度でも立ち上がるのです。
