A Mother’s Love: The Reunion with KuronaI was deeply depressed because I had lost my partner, Karen. However, I couldn’t stop myself from visiting my beloved daughter. As a witch, I cannot live with her. If we lived together, the curse of the witch would make her die before me, and I didn’t want to see that.

I took a deep breath and visited my old master’s house. “Master, it’s been a long time,” I said.

“Oh, Seren! Your daughter is sleeping in her room now,” he replied.

It had been ten years since I left my baby with him. I peeked into her room, and a girl asked, “Who is it?”

I quickly closed the door, but she shouted, “Seren! Welcome back!”

My master was whistling and working as usual. I was a bit annoyed with him, but the joy of seeing my daughter was much stronger.

“Seren, are you really my mother?” she asked.

I couldn’t hold back my feelings anymore, so I hugged her tightly. “I’m sorry for leaving you alone,” I cried.

Kurona’s warmth touched my heart. That night at dinner, Kurona told me something surprising with a big smile. “Actually, there is a time machine in this country. We can go to any era we want. Let’s go together next time!”

My heart was filled with hope. Mion is gone, but now I have a new future to walk with my daughter.

●全訳：母の愛：クロナとの再会●

パートナーのカレンを失い、私は深く落ち込んでいました。けれど、どうしても最愛の娘に会わずにはいられませんでした。魔女である私は、彼女と一緒に暮らすことはできません。もし一緒に暮らせば、魔女の呪いのせいで彼女は私より先に死ぬことになり、私はそれを見たくなかったのです。

深く息を吸い、私はかつての師匠の家を訪ねました。「師匠、お久しぶりです」

「おお、セレン！娘なら今、部屋で寝ているぞ」と彼は答えました。

赤ん坊だった彼女を彼に預けてから、10年が経っていました。私が部屋を覗くと、一人の少女が「誰？」と尋ねました。

私は慌ててドアを閉めましたが、彼女は「セレン！おかえりなさい！」と叫びました。

師匠はいつも通り口笛を吹きながら作業をしていました。少し腹立たしくもありましたが、娘に会えた喜びの方がずっと強かったのです。

「セレン、本当に私のお母さんなの？」彼女は尋ねました。

私はもう感情を抑えきれず、彼女を強く抱きしめました。「一人にしてしまってごめんなさい」私は泣きました。

クロナの温もりが私の心に触れました。その夜の夕食で、クロナは満面の笑みで驚くべきことを教えてくれました。「実は、この国にはタイムマシンがあるんだよ。好きな時代にいつでも行けるの。今度一緒に行こうよ！」

私の心は希望で満たされました。ミオンはもういません。けれど今、私には娘と共に歩む新しい未来があるのです。
